Since opening the doors to the ‘Laurie’ show home at Longniddry Village, we have had so many wonderful comments about how beautiful the interior design is.

So, we caught up with Kiran Bhatia from New i.d to find out more about the inspiration behind the styling of this show home:

Q: What was your inspiration for the styling of this home?

A: The Laurie show home is the perfect size for a family home. We wanted to give it a modern country feel that really brings out cosy living in this spacious home. The wooden finishes that we have incorporated really do bring the design together. The team also worked closely with local artists and businesses to create some finishing touches with a range of accessories, artwork, books, and dried foliage wreaths coming from local suppliers to Longniddry Village – all adding that personal touch and complementing the design and creating a contemporary feel.

Q: Have you followed a colour trend?
A:
Yes, corals and blues are the main colour theme throughout the ‘Laurie’, with contrasts of greens and oranges. We’ve included some deep colours within the scheme, but the overall look was to create a soft and calm feel throughout the show home.

Q: Why did you choose this furniture?

A: We were delighted to design and furnish a show home of this size! We wanted to create a modern yet cosy style throughout the show home and have used a lot of wooden furniture which provides warmth, whilst the style of furniture we have incorporated into the design is easy on the eye.

One of the highlights of this home is the magnificent open plan kitchen, dining and garden room which spans the depth of the home. The kitchen is fitted to a high specification with a range of vibrant coloured shaker style units and integrated appliances, and we have sourced some ‘wow’ features into the design to complement the beautiful units and also create the perfect entertaining space with a large dining table which seats eight people and perfectly complements the room. In the lounge, there’s a super-size comfy sofa and we also sourced a hand-made bench to elegantly display the wooden logs for the log-burner, which comes as standard in this four-bedroom home. A super king-size bed finishes off the master bedroom.

Q: Which room was your favourite to dress?

A: The kitchen, dining and garden room by far! It is such a beautiful feature in the house and the styling above the work top was simple but very effective. It really is the heart of the home – I can imagine any family falling in love with this room as it offers such flexible living. The garden room has French doors which open out to the rear garden, so is the perfect space for entertaining and bringing the outside in.

Kiran added, “We have created a home that epitomises modern country living! Taking inspiration from feature tapestry wallpaper and the latest trends in wood panelling, the overall look is soft and calm using a palette of corals and blues throughout the home.”

Longniddry Village is being developed in partnership with landowners Wemyss and March Estates. The development includes extensive open space with a new village green and restored mill pond which adds to its appeal, and with Edinburgh only 20 minutes away, this development offers the best of country living.
