How will you spend yours?

The Spring Bank Holiday is approaching fast and – now that things have finally started to open up – there’s more than one way to enjoy the long weekend.

Here are our top seven…

1. Book a last-minute break

With hotels and B&Bs now open, why not spend a couple of days exploring one of the UK’s many beauty spots? Or for a faster pace, book a city break to enjoy a museum or gallery visit and have your pick of bars and restaurants. If you’re lucky to be off for half-term, you could make your stay even longer.

2. See friends and family

A relaxation of the meet-up rules makes this the perfect time to reunite with friends and family. And if sunshine isn’t forecast, it’s good to know – subject to the rule of 6 – we can gather indoors now as well. Better yet, why not book a table at your favourite restaurant or suggest a get-together at your local pub?

3. Get active

This year’s Spring Bank Holiday coincides with Bike Week so what better reason to get pedalling? Or get out and about on foot – check out our walking blog for ways to step up your mental and physical fitness. Did you know that organised indoor sport has returned? Time to sign up for Zumba...

4. Visit a local attraction

Local attractions – or even not-so-local ones – provide the perfect family day out and will keep the kids entertained, particularly if it’s also half-term. As well as zoos and theme parks you now have your pick of undercover attractions – think cinemas, theatres, bowling alleys and indoor play areas. Check important details online before you go.

5. Hit the shops

Who doesn’t love a bit of ‘non-essential’ retail therapy? Not to knock buying online, but a shopping trip can be a treat for the senses, allowing us to ‘try before we buy’, gather ideas, seek in-store advice and enjoy instant delivery. And now you can even grab a coffee or a bite to eat while you’re there!

6. Arrange a spa day

Take advantage of saunas and steam rooms re-opening by indulging in a bit of spa therapy. Some private gyms will issue free guest passes if you’re considering joining or you could plan a trip to a dedicated spa hotel. While you’re there, why not splash out on a treatment or an overnight stay to make it extra special?

7. Spruce up your garden

Spring is the time to put down roots so why not devote the weekend to getting your garden ready for summer? It doesn’t all have to be back-breaking – you could spend some of the time mooching around local garden centres for inspiration. Our homes have the perfect outdoor space for you to make your own – check out our blog for ideas on creating the perfect outdoor haven.

From nearby shops, restaurants and leisure centres to local attractions and scenic cycle and walking routes through the surrounding countryside, our homes have everything you need on your doorstep for many bank holidays to come.
If you’re thinking of moving house and putting down roots, that’s something you could put on your list for this weekend – searching for a beautiful new home.
