Local school boy, Charlie Harrison, is taking on an expedition to Peru in August 2021, supporting work such as building houses, schools and toilet facilities in villages and towns in the country.

The projects that Charlie, and others joining him, will include working on building a better community and improving the lives of the people living in Peru.

When I first heard about the expedition, I saw it as a great opportunity to experience another side of the world and a very opposite lifestyle to my own. The projects we will be working on will improve the people of Peru's lives. I am extremely thankful to have been given the opportunity to make a significant, positive difference in local Peruvian communities.”

To get there though, Charlie has been faced with the difficult challenge of raising £5,000. By completing a virtual marathon, various fundraising activities and car boot sales, Charlie has reached £3,300 of his huge target.

Taking it upon himself to contact local businesses in Dorchester and Poundbury, Charlie was able to gain sponsorship from several companies, including ZeroC, who he proudly showcases their logos on printed t-shirts.

ZeroC commented: “We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to support Charlie. It’s for an amazing cause and he’s been working so hard to get there. We wish him all the best and hope he can get out to Peru in the current Covid conditions.”
