By royal appointment; here are some key facts about the Duchy of Cornwall.

His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince of Wales inherited the Duchy of Cornwall when he was only three years old, in 1952 when his mother became Queen of England, although he was not entitled to manage its income until his 21st birthday.

As the 24th Duke of Cornwall, HRH Prince of Wales took over the management of the estate in 1969 and in 2017 celebrated 65 years as Duke of Cornwall – the longest-serving in the estate’s history.

ZeroC is creating a 400-acre purpose-built town on Duchy of Cornwall land and is celebrating everything royally wonderful about the area. Here, we learn more about its history and future…

What is the Duchy of Cornwall?

Established by Edward III in 1337, The Duchy of Cornwall is a well-managed private estate consisting of circa 53,000 hectares of land spanning 23 counties – the majority of which are in the South West of England. The principle activity of the Duchy is the sustainable, commercial management of its land and properties.
