Over the years, our belongings build up. You get bought birthday presents, Christmas presents, and before you know it, your home is cluttered up with items that you may not really have a use for. If this sounds like you, then it’s time to clear your diary and finally declutter your home!
It may seem like a daunting job to begin with, but we promise you will feel very satisfied when you’ve finished! If you are struggling with where to start, take a look at our helpful ideas below:
Following this saying will make it ten times easier for you to sort through your belongings. If the item has no place or need in the house, then it’s highly likely that you don’t either. We realise that some items may hold sentimental value, which can make parting with it a lot harder…but if you have any items packed away, that bring you joy or bring back a memory when you see it, why not display it pride of place?
If you hold some belongings that are still in really good condition and are too good to throw away, perhaps think about putting them online to sell? There are lots of online selling platforms available such as Ebay, Depop and Gumtree. Due to the current situation, we would recommend creating a pile of items that you’d like to sell, and when restrictions have been lifted, start uploading them online. It’s an easy way to get rid of things and you’re also making a bit of money at the same time!
This is a big one for a lot of people…we are all guilty of keeping magazines from years ago or old books that we don’t know what to do with. We suggest creating three piles. One for important paperwork and documents that you must keep. A second pile for the books you love and can’t bear to throw away. A third pile for all the paperwork/magazines that can be recycled. Be careful not to throw anything away with confidential details, such as bank statements. These should be shredded to keep your details safe.
It’s time to get organised! Placing dividers in your drawers will allow you to separate your belongings, helping you to always find what you’re looking for. You can say goodbye to the piles of papers stacked on your kitchen bench, phew!
Try some of our ideas above, sit back, put your feet up and enjoy your clutter free house!
