Renewable energy in the UK – An introduction
This is our simple introduction to the so-called Clean Energy Cashback schemes, or more precisely the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
The FIT scheme started on the 1st April 2010 and deals with the production of Electricity. On 10 March 2011, the Government announced the details of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) policy a scheme designed to revolutionise the way heat is generated and used.

Who is eligible?
The schemes are open to anybody who wishes to generate their own energy: There are some upper limits for eligibility (5MW in the case of the FIT) but these are so high that they will only affect large factories or dedicated ‘energy farms’.
